McNabb Needs to Stop Talking

McNabb

The time has come for Donovan McNabb to leave Robert Griffin III and the Redskins alone. In 2010 he spent the season with the Redskins which is only memorable for the drama between McNabb and Mike Shanahan. The season went poorly for both parties and ended with McNabb being benched and then moving on to the Vikings. Now it seems that McNabb simply can't leave the organization and its new young quarterback alone.

He has made a variety of comments from criticizing the Redskins use of Griffin. Later McNabb stated that Griffin was too involved with the media and commercials during his injury and needed to stop sharing so much about his recovery. McNabb also stated that he would like to talk to Griffin but was unable to reach him.

Griffin finally responded to the McNabb saga telling GQ "I don't think Donovan is an idiot by any means. But, right now, it's probably best that we don't talk." This move was a very intelligent one for Griffin because talking to a McNabb who clearly has a grudge against the Redskins would only be counter productive.

However, McNabb isn't done. During an NBC radio show McNabb said that he is

"just trying to help him, but clearly the young generation think they have all the answers. And he's going through a little turmoil right now of trying to get out on the field. And it's unfortunate, but that's where we're at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers."

"I honestly think that over there in Washington he's getting brainwashed. I hope the best for the young man, but the direction he's going in is really a direction he does not want to do. He does not want to go there with me. Until things start to fall apart and come down trembling on you, then you want some help. But it's a shame."
McNabb's latest comment seems to be the most obnoxious yet. I respected McNabb and his career in Philadelphia and even enjoyed him during interviews at times, but this is really starting to tarnish his reputation to a great extent. Griffin clearly has no desire to talk to McNabb at this point and that is something McNabb should respect and accept. I seriously doubt their is much if any pressure from inside the organization to keep Griffin away. RGIII is a smart young quarterback and can figure out for himself what needs to be done.
The reality is that McNabb needs to stay away from any topic having to do with Griffin but apparently Griffin is the only one who is mature enough to realize it.
