RGIII Against the Blitz

Often when teams play rookie quarterbacks they like to bring pressure. The assumption is that a young quarterback will struggle when he can't just sit in the pocket. However, Robert Griffin III does not fit this rule. Instead he thrives when the defense shows a blitz.

It's staggering how well Griffin played in these situations. While other rookie quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Russel Wilson also had good to decent stats when the defense is showing blitz they came no where near what Griffin did. In fact he has a higher completion percentage, average yards/attempt , and rating than Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees when facing a blitz. Honestly, it's not even that close for most of them.

If Griffin continues to develop as a passer he is going to become an even bigger nightmare for defenses.  With the added threat of Alfred Morris in the backfield the Redskins offense looks to be set for years to come.
