For those of you who haven't already heard RGIII is attempting to come back for the start of training camp. It is still about a month away so we have to wait and see if he really is ready by then but this seems to be a good sign for the Redskins. With this news it appears RGIII will be ready for the Eagles in week 1.
However, some fans are wondering if the Redskins should hold RGIII out for a few games despite this news. My response is that it is ridiculous to hold out RGIII if he is ready. While I understand the concern, fans need to remember that the Redskins will not play Griffin unless he is 100%. And once he is 100% sitting him out will not some how make him even less likely to get injured again.
When asked about his injury in comparison to Adrian Peterson's Griffin had this to say:
“Yeah, I mean, I’m not Adrian, but when it comes to the pressure of coming back from the injury, it’s like the old saying, ‘You only feel pressure when you don’t know what you’re doing or you’re not confident in what you’re doing.’ I feel confident in what the coaches are going to do with me, I feel confident in what I’ve been working with, with Larry -- Larry Hess in the training room -- and those guys. I feel confident in my body and the way it has been responding, so there is no pressure there. It is just a matter if I am ready, I go. If I am not ready, I sit.”
Griffin clearly does not mean to play if he isn't healthy and I think it would be wise to trust the coaches, doctors, and Griffin despite their past mistakes.
